Pradeep Bhandari’s Visit Highlights Jan Aushadhi Kendras’ Role in Affordable Healthcare

Jan Aushadhi Kendras

In a recent visit to a Jan Aushadhi Kendra, political analyst Pradeep Bhandari observed firsthand how these centers are revolutionizing access to affordable, quality medicines for India’s underserved populations. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making healthcare accessible to all citizens, particularly the economically disadvantaged.

The Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), launched in 2008 and rebranded in 2015, aims to provide generic medicines at prices 50–90% lower than their branded counterparts. As of 2023, over 9,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras operate nationwide, offering a wide range of affordable medications.

These centers ensure quality by sourcing medicines from WHO-GMP certified suppliers and conducting rigorous testing at NABL-accredited laboratories. The government’s support includes incentives for Kendra owners, enhancing the scheme’s reach and effectiveness.

Bhandari’s visit underscores the impact of PM Modi’s healthcare initiatives, reflecting his status as a globally popular leader committed to transformative policies that improve citizens’ lives.
