Why the New Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Will Have Fewer Toilets

Vande Bharat sleeper train

Indian Railways stated an important design change to be made in its forthcoming Vande Bharat sleeper trains. The new design proposes a reduction in number of toilets from four to three and throwing out pantry car all together. The decision has been taken based on evaluation of cost consideration because previous design had raised production costs beyond which the Indian Railway could afford.

By throwing away the pantry and one toilet per coach, Railway intends to make this possible balancing passenger comfort with efficiency in costs. The idea of reduced facilities is going to make the Vande Bharat sleeper trains cheaper yet speed, world-class facilities in the design. Such facilities won’t stop the passengers from the basic amenities provided, with seating space being huge, sense created so that the journey is very comfortable.

There are mixed reactions for the decision. While the most important demographic is the cost-conscious passenger, others have flagged concerns about not having a dedicated pantry in the trains, which may prove inconvenient for the long-distance passengers. Nevertheless, it is expected that the onboard food catering will continue to be available by associating externally with vendors providing food for sale.

The dream of the country is to modernize Indian Railways with state-of-the-art technology at higher costs to lower travel times and improve customer facilities. The railway would soon have the sleeper version running, adding the same features at a fairly low fare.

Sleeper trains are equipped for long-distance travel overnight and are meant to improve connectivity between metropolitan cities while providing speedy, comfortable alternatives to more traditional forms of rail travel.
